• U.S. business logistics costs came in at $2.4 trillion, amounting to 7.8% of the national GDP. In 2025, those numbers were $2.6 trillion and 8.7% of GDP.
• There are five structural forces that define the macro environment and show no signs of resolution: Asymmetrical global growth, tightening financial conditions due to persistent inflation and rising public debt, accelerating trade flow and geoeconomic realignment, labor market and productivity constraints, and energy price volatility.
• Artificial Intelligence has made the crossover from a technology to try to one that delivers measurable commercial returns in specific, well-defined applications. AI use in the supply chain crafts value via four capabilities: Interpreting, predicting, recommending and executing. Adoption of AI remains uneven by shippers and logistics providers across the supply chain, with a large gap between companies that have placed AI into core workflows vs. those still restricted to isolated point solutions, with many having none at all.
• Companies are responding to labor constraints with accelerated use of automation and digital investments in AI.

The top three cities are the same as the previous year, signaling southerly migration remains a popular destination for movers, with Houston being the top city for the 5^th year in a row. The Modern Migration: Prioritizing Lifestyle and Well-Being

According to the recent 鈥淪ettling In鈥� survey, the top reasons why American鈥檚 are moving cite wanting a fresh start (41%) and lower cost of living (32%). However, when asked what would matter most if money were no object, priorities shift naming weather (33%) and proximity to loved ones (24%) as primary drivers. Today's movers are prioritizing cities that reflect their values and lifestyle they seek, rather than career-motivated decisions.

The survey also revealed a generational divide when it comes to moving. Forty-five percent of Gen Z respondents have moved in the past five years (compared with 19% of Boomers+). When picking a city, 65% of Gen Z say it's extremely or very important their city aligns with personal values whereas Boomers+ prioritize a city being closer to family (40%). Alternatively, 80% of Gen Z want to live in fun locations where they can pursue their interests, with 69% of Boomers+ relating to this priority.

Paradoxically, while 61% of respondents want vibrant communities with easy access to restaurants and entertainment, 59% simultaneously prioritize quiet communities with a slower pace of life. The top-performing destinations satisfy both: cultural ecosystems paired with accessible, community-oriented neighborhoods.

Additionally, 56% of collective survey respondents report that social media shapes their perceptions of a city, suggesting that destination appeal now includes cultural influence and lifestyle branding.

READING, Pa., (July 14, 2025) 鈥� 糖心传媒 Truck Leasing recognized 44 of its top maintenance professionals during the 2025 National Tech Showdown, held June 12 at the Team 糖心传媒 race shop in Mooresville, North Carolina. The internal competition brought together nearly 3,000 technicians and customer service representatives from across the United States and Canada for a series of timed exams, skilled challenges and diagnostic tasks.

This year鈥檚 event marked several milestones: female technicians competing in the finals for the first time, the return of seven 2023 national finalists and the largest prize pool in Tech Showdown history. Associates competed in one of two tracks: Tech Pro, for Tech I and Tech II associates, and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Plus, for Tech III associates and Customer Service Representatives. Each was designed to test bumper-to-bumper knowledge across all major brands in 糖心传媒鈥檚 fleet.

Conner Fletcher earned first place in Tech Pro after competing against 25 other national finalists. Erick Mckenzie placed first in the PM Plus, topping a field of 17 other competitors. In what marks a turning point for the industry, 70% of companies now report adopting AI solutions 鈥� up 17 percent from 2024. And that investment is paying off. Fleet executives cite improvements in fleet planning (36%), route optimization (35%), and operational efficiency (34%) among the top gains realized over the past year.

But the transformation is just beginning. While optimism is growing, 84% of executives still believe the industry lags behind others in adopting AI 鈥� up 20 percent since 2024. The results paint a picture of an industry gaining confidence in AI鈥檚 value while acknowledging the work ahead to fully harness its potential.

From Potential to Performance

The data reveals a shift from theoretical benefit to tangible impact. About four in ten respondents say their organizations have achieved at least 50% savings in fuel costs, operational expenditures, and distance traveled through AI-powered route optimization.

Leaders are also seeing gains in driver safety, customer satisfaction, and visibility across the supply chain 鈥� a clear sign that AI is becoming integral to fleet operations. And this momentum isn鈥檛 isolated. More than nine in ten (91%) of executives believe organizations that adopt AI are better positioned for future growth.

Persistent Challenges and Emerging Risks

While leaders recognize how AI can help future-proof their operations, many are still struggling to navigate current challenges. Rising costs (52%), supply chain disruptions (45%), and managing fleet operations (40%) continue to challenge executives. In fact, fleet operations jumped 10 percent as a top concern year-over-year, indicating increasing complexity as fleets grow and customer expectations rise.

The report also highlights a stark contrast between innovation and legacy mindsets: 94% of respondents still rely on traditional annual forecasting to guide fleet planning. At the same time, nearly all (97%) agree that benchmarking with real-time data is becoming essential to navigate economic uncertainty and sudden market shifts.

Leadership Is Aligned, But Caution Remains

One promising insight: leadership is largely on board. 93% of respondents say their senior teams understand the value AI brings to supply chains and fleets. And looking ahead, 91% agree it鈥檚 critical for the next generation of fleet and logistics professionals to be equipped with AI-enabled skills and tools.

However, concerns around AI鈥檚 risks haven鈥檛 diminished. Security risks (49%), limited regulation governing (36%), and fears of unethical use (35%) are top of mind. These findings highlight the need for strategic, responsible adoption that balances innovation with transparency and trust.

According to the survey, the top reasons for moving in 2024 were:

Overall, 67% of respondents reported that moving had a positive impact on their overall well-being, and 56% viewed the process itself positively. When coordinating a move, 69% preferred to rent and drive their own truck. Among those who rented 57% found that packing and organizing overtime helped reduce stress, and 49% relied on family and friends for support.

is lighting up a new solar-powered initiative seeking to boost efficiency, minimize energy costs, and reduce emissions initially at select , and truck locations in the U.S. with the installation and activation of its first-ever rooftop solar-powered systems.

The company鈥檚 new state-of-the-art facility in Channahon, Illinois, is now fully operational and is predominantly powered by an onsite photovoltaic (PV) solar system, expected to generate roughly 80% of the building鈥檚 energy needs at 200 KW capacity. Any remaining required energy will be supplied by the local utility provider.

A Grand Rapids, Michigan, location will be active in the coming months and 糖心传媒鈥檚 Linden, New Jersey, location is expected to go online in 2025. These facilities are also new state-of-the-art locations.

The new facilities incorporating solar systems in Channahon, Illinois, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Linden, New Jersey, are part of the company鈥檚 LEED building program.

Under a power purchase agreement with , seven additional 糖心传媒 facilities in California are expected to be retrofitted with new PV solar systems in the next year, which are expected to yield roughly 600 KW of renewable energy across all locations. These facilities are located in Fresno, Hayward, La Mirada, National City, Riverside, San Diego and San Leandro.

糖心传媒 is collaborating with San Francisco-based as its lead project consultant on this solar initiative.

鈥淥ur solar program is an important piece of our renewable energy strategy and ForeFront Power continues to be an outstanding partner in helping us bring these projects to fruition,鈥� said Drew Cullen, senior vice president of fuels and facility services at 糖心传媒. 鈥淭hese investments will allow us to directly generate our own renewable energy to power our locations and continue to support our customers with sustainable solutions.鈥�

On average, four solar panel-powered 糖心传媒 Truck Leasing facilities will generate an estimated 1-million-kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy annually and will result in an emissions avoidance of 442 metric tons (MT) CO2e, which is equal to powering nearly 90 homes for one year.

鈥淭he initiative to install solar systems at our locations is a part of our company鈥檚 LEED-certified facilities process,鈥� explained Ivet Taneva, 糖心传媒 vice president of environmental affairs. 鈥淚nvesting in solar has considerable economic impacts for our operations as well as the environmental benefits of further reducing emissions related to electricity use.鈥�
