Moving can feel overwhelming. To alleviate some of that stress, hire a moving labor company and dedicated workers to help you move.

A moving labor company can help with packing, loading and unloading. They鈥檒l disassemble and load your belongings into your rented moving truck, then unload and reassemble items at your new location. This is a great option if you鈥檙e unable to or don鈥檛 want to handle lifting and moving heavy objects on and off your truck.

To make it even better, 糖心传媒 customers receive discounts on moving labor services from and .

It is often much less expensive to rent a moving truck or van and hire moving labor than it is to hire a full-service moving company for your move. Moving labor companies will often work with customers by providing licensed, insured movers or just basic helpers to relieve some of the stress involved with moving.

Two men wearing gloves carry a red striped chair through a living room.

If you decide to enlist the help of moving labor, it鈥檚 best to book early 鈥 at least two weeks in advance. Not sure where to start?

Here are some questions you may want to ask potential moving labor companies:

1. How long have you been in business?

Get a feel for how experienced of a company you may be working with.

2. Are your movers licensed or insured?

Based on what you are moving, always ask about the difference between a moving labor company鈥檚 licensed, insured movers and standard helpers.

3. Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau or some other accredited organization?

This information will give you the ability to look up other customer reviews and comments on the moving labor company.

4. How do I know your movers will arrive on time?

Any reputable moving labor company should provide you with their terms and conditions as well as a confirmation e-mail or letter that details the locations, dates and times their movers will arrive. They should also provide you with alternate means of communication in case you need to get in touch with their office and cannot.

5. Is your company bonded?

This is very important because it immediately tells you whether the company has the financial means to rectify any damage that may occur during loading/unloading.

More Than 61 Million Independence Day Travelers Expected to Share the Road/blog/rental/more-than-61-million-independence-day-travelers-expected-to-share-the-road/

AAA predicts 61.4 million motorists will share the road with do-it-yourself movers and professional truck drivers over the Independence Day travel period, which begins this Saturday and ends Sunday, July 5.

Drivers are encouraged to adjust routes to holiday destinations to avoid congestion, to pack a heaping helping of patience before taking the wheel and to keep safety a priority.

糖心传媒 Truck Rental has assembled some tips to help do-it-yourself movers make the most of their moving day.

Nearly 72 million people are expected to travel more than 50 miles from home to Independence Day destinations, according to AAA. The prediction is slightly higher than 2025. In all, 85% are expected to travel to holiday destinations by car.

鈥淔or many Americans, traveling the week of July 4th is tradition,鈥 said Stacey Barber, Vice President of AAA Travel. 鈥淭he 9-day travel forecast includes travelers who are vacationing all week and people just getting away for the long holiday weekend. While the overall number of Independence Day travelers appears to be plateauing, we鈥檙e still expecting record volumes this year.鈥

INRIX, a provider of transportation data and insights, says the second weekend of the holiday period will be the busiest on the roads, starting Thursday, July 2.

In some areas like Boston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, peak congestion is expected on Saturday, June 27. Drivers looking to avoid the heaviest traffic should leave early in the day or consider traveling on Monday or Tuesday.

Tips for a Successful Moving Day

While fireworks are staples of Independence Day celebrations, their incendiary nature place them among the hazardous cargo prohibited from 糖心传媒 rental trucks.

糖心传媒 reminds consumers that under its rental agreement flammable, explosive or otherwise hazardous materials may not be transported in its rental vehicles.

Whether moving across town or across the country, we have tips for a successful moving day:

  • For cross-country movers, plan breaks and do a little sightseeing along the way.
  • After you arrive at your destination, make sure you allow enough time to unload.

National Work Zone Awareness Week Highlights Safety, April 20-24/national-work-zone-awareness-week-highlights-safety-april-20-24/

Periodic maintenance and new construction keep the nation鈥檚 roadways strong. New speed limits, traffic patterns and rights of way, as well as worker and vehicle movement in construction areas can all impact work zone safety.

, April 20-24, highlights ways motorists and professional truck drivers can work together to keep work zone workers safe.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has joined with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) to coordinate and sponsor the awareness campaign.

This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥淪afe Actions, Save Lives.鈥

Before taking the wheel, the FHWA encourages drivers to keep the following in mind when entering a work zone.

Work zones present challenges for truck drivers. Narrowed lanes, sudden stops, traffic pattern shifts, and uneven road surfaces can lead to crashes and fatalities. Plan your route, reduce speed, stay alert, and do your part while traveling through work zones.

Large blind spots, long stopping distances, and size constraints make maneuvering large trucks and buses in work zones particularly challenging. Passenger vehicle drivers should be mindful that CMV drivers need to take extra precautions when driving through these areas.

Pay close attention to road workers and flaggers 鈥 give them extra room, always slow down when approaching them, and be prepared to stop if necessary.

Research your routes and check for upcoming work zones. Make sure you are aware of road work before embarking on your route and when possible, use detours to avoid having to pass through these areas.Reduce speed while traveling through work zones, paying close attention to signs and signals.

Be aware of passenger vehicle drivers around you, who may not be aware of commercial vehicle driving challenges, including large blind spots and longer stopping distances.

When approaching lane closures, move into the open lane as soon as possible 鈥 pay close attention to vehicles around you that could be in your blind spot.

Rear-end crashes are common in work zones. Obey all speeds, avoid distractions, and maintain extra space between your vehicle and the one in front of you at all times.

For more information on work zone safety, visit the FHWA website.

Safety Spotlight: Hazardous Materials Guidance/safety-spotlight-hazardous-materials-guidance/

糖心传媒 reminds consumers that under its rental agreement flammable, explosive or otherwise hazardous materials may not be transported in its rental vehicles.

糖心传媒 reminds consumers that under its rental agreement flammable, explosive or otherwise hazardous materials may not be transported in its rental vehicles.

Heat and humidity can have an impact on items kept in enclosed spaces such as a rental truck, so great care should be taken when packing items into the truck.

Consumers should avoid transporting items such as propane tanks, paint thinner, pesticides, oil based paints, fertilizer, charcoal, gasoline or kerosene cans and lighter fluid.

Fireworks are considered a Class 1 hazardous material by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. There are federal regulations that apply to rental truck operators regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.

A general rule of thumb is that all appliances or machinery that hold gasoline or oil should be completely drained before they are loaded into a truck.

You should also avoid packing any type of combustible or highly flammable items like aerosol cans and lighter fluid. When packing items like a gas generator, lawnmower, snowblower or weed whacker, make sure to drain the gasoline and oil completely until the tank is dry. Any amount of gasoline and oil can lead to build-up of highly combustible vapor.

When packing your truck, we recommend avoiding the following additional items:

Aerosols, ammunition and guns, antifreeze, automobile batteries, cleansers containing bleach or ammonia, compressed gasses, hazardous waste, marine pollutants, matches, nail polish remover, oil or gas, paint cans, rubbing alcohol, signal flares, and weed killer.

If you have questions about whether specific items are hazardous, or you have general questions about what you are allowed to pack into your moving truck, then contact your local branch of the Department of Transportation or a moving advisor at 糖心传媒 Truck Rental.

Taking these necessary steps is vital to protect yourself and your property. It is also important to your rental truck and the safety of other drivers on the road.

Safety Spotlight: April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month/safety-spotlight-april-is-distracted-driving-awareness-month/

From the moment a driver takes the wheel, distractions on the road and inside a vehicle can take the focus off of safe driving.

April has been designated as Distracted Driving Awareness Month to remind drivers about distractions and how to practice good distracted-driving safety habits.

We have assembled tips from AAA and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to help keep motorists, movers and professional drivers safe when sharing the road.

In the coming weeks. more do-it-yourself movers will begin to share the road with professional truck drivers and motorists.

Additional vehicles on the roadway are among the many distractions all drivers face and challenge their ability to remain safe when behind the wheel.

Examples of distractions to safe driving include talking or texting on your phone, eating and drinking, talking to people in your vehicle, adjusting the stereo, entertainment or navigation system.

AAA suggests drivers adjust things like seats, mirrors and climate controls before starting their journey. Avoid the temptation to reach for possessions that may roll around by storing them away.

Eat meals or snacks before you start your trip. If you decide to eat while driving, avoid messy foods that can take your attention away from driving.

If pets and children need your attention, pull over safely and resist the temptation to reach into the back seat, which can cause you to lose control.

For professional truck drivers, distractions can come from inside and outside their truck cabs.

While passing buildings or billboards, drivers could become distracted and suffer a momentary lack of focus.

  • Turn off all unnecessary devices.
  • Plan ahead.
  • Don't multitask
  • Keep your eyes on the road.
  • Drive defensively

By taking steps to minimize driving distractions, no matter how small, you can help ensure your safety and the safety of other drivers on the road.

Consumer Alert: Tips to Avoid Moving Scams/consumer-alert-tips-to-avoid-moving-scams/

Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the busy consumer moving season, a time when families pack up belongings and memories to head to their next forever homes.

Some movers take the do-it-yourself approach, while others hire professionals to deliver their belongings safely and securely to their new homes.

While there are many reputable moving companies who are trustworthy and offer legitimate services, consumers need to be aware of moving scams that could affect their wallets and worldly goods.

Scammers, offering seemingly inexpensive moving service, use online message boards, shell websites, social media, and other online listings to attract unsuspecting consumers.

Often, the prices and quotes are unclear, and when the movers show up, the scammers may be using unbranded trucks or trailers.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulates moving companies and has some .

  • The mover or broker doesn鈥檛 perform an on-site inspection of your household items and gives an estimate over the telephone or online 鈥 sight unseen.
  • The mover or broker does not provide a written estimate or says they will determine the cost after loading.
  • The moving company demands cash or a large deposit before the move.
  • The mover asks you to sign blank documents.
  • The mover or broker doesn鈥檛 provide you with a copy of the booklet and a copy of FMCSA鈥檚 , which movers are required by federal regulations to supply to their customers.
  • The company鈥檚 website has no local address and no information about their registration or insurance.
  • The mover claims all goods are covered by their insurance.
  • When you call the mover, the telephone is answered with 鈥淢overs鈥 or 鈥淢oving Company,鈥 rather than the company鈥檚 name.
  • Offices and warehouse are in poor condition or nonexistent.
  • On moving day, a rental truck arrives rather than a company-owned or marked fleet truck.
  • The mover claims that you have more belongings than estimated.

What can you do if you are the victim of theft or think you've been taken advantage by a moving scammer?

If you are the victim of theft or a scammer using a 糖心传媒 rental truck, call the police immediately and contact the location.

Provide the truck information, moving company, and any other details such as photos, truck plates, truck number, rental agreement number, etc.

For more information about how to avoid moving fraud and your consumer rights and responsibilities when moving, visit the FMCSA's website.

Stay Current on Snow and Ice Removal Laws/blog/stay-current-on-snow-and-ice-removal-laws/

As winter weather comes calling, drivers in certain regions of the country are bound to have snow and ice buildup on their vehicles. Not only can that snow and ice dislodge during transit, damaging vehicles or injuring drivers, it can also mean drivers may face state fines.

While not every state has regulations addressing snow and ice, several do, and staying current on them is the responsibility of both carriers and drivers.

New Jersey has one of the stricter laws concerning snow and ice, requiring drivers to completely clear their vehicles of snow and ice before taking to the roadways. Commercial vehicles violating the law face fines of up to $1,500. A portion of the fines will be used to finance the installation of more roadside snow-removal equipment. New Jersey has said it will not ticket professional drivers who can demonstrate they are traveling to a snow-removal station.

Drivers in Pennsylvania also must remove snow and ice from their vehicles before hitting the highways. They face severe fines of up to $1,500 if snow or ice they failed to clear from their vehicle causes injury or death to another person. Connecticut has a similar law, and in the state of New York, it's illegal to drive with snow or ice obstructing your view.

Those in the trucking industry are well aware of the safety issues that surround snow and ice removal. What鈥檚 more, drivers cannot be required to climb on top of their rigs to remove snow without violating worker-safety provisions.

Drivers have reported using truck washes to loosen and remove snow and ice. Herbert Mayo, vice president of risk control for Lockton Companies, a national insurance broker, advises drivers to wait until later in the day to try to clear vehicles, if possible, as the sun will warm the trailer and the ice will slide off more easily.

鈥淒on鈥檛 forget [the] buildup of ice and snow behind the tires on the mud flaps/wheel wells. This can be just as dangerous, as it is typically a large ball. It forms from the spray and is more frequent than ice on the roof,鈥 Mayo said.

Laws in other parts of the country don鈥檛 require drivers to clear snow from the top of their rigs, but drivers still need to ensure good visibility and, if possible, remove as much ice as they can.

In Alaska, snow and ice may not obscure windshield visibility, and law enforcement officers in Georgia, Iowa, Michigan and Nebraska may issue citations if a vehicle is considered a danger.

In New Hampshire, officers may issue citations under negligence for snow and ice falling from a vehicle, and officers in Washington, D.C., may stop a motorist for traveling with accumulated snow and ice.

In Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority can prohibit vehicles from using the roadway if debris, including snow or ice, could fall from the vehicle and 鈥渆ndanger individuals or property.鈥 In addition, Massachusetts Turnpike Police have the authority to fine drivers for failing to clear vehicles.

For more information, visit . Snow and ice removal laws for specific states can be found by searching the Department of Transportation websites for each state.

Safety Spotlight: Security Tips for Your Summer Move/safety-spotlight-security-tips-for-your-summer-move/

Whether moving across town or across the country, a do-it-yourself move using a safe, reliable 糖心传媒 rental truck may be the perfect option.

For those times when hiring movers is a better fit, 糖心传媒鈥檚 security experts encourage consumers to take a few precautions to ensure the safety of your family and your cherished belongings.

Safety Spotlight: Avoid Packing Hazardous Materials/blog/rental/safety-spotlight-avoid-packing-hazardous-materials/

Whether you are planning a household or commercial move, rental trucks are convenient ways to transport a lifetime of belongings and memories to your new destination.

Summer heat and humidity can have an impact on items kept in enclosed spaces such as a rental truck, so great care should be taken when packing items into the truck.

糖心传媒 reminds consumers that under its rental agreement flammable, explosive or otherwise hazardous materials may not be transported in its rental vehicles. Consumers should avoid transporting items such as propane tanks, paint thinner, pesticides, fertilizer, charcoal, and lighter fluid.

Fireworks are considered a Class 1 hazardous material by the There are that apply to rental truck operators regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.

Hazardous Materials Best Practices

A general rule of thumb is that all appliances or machinery that hold gasoline or oil should be completely drained before they are loaded into a truck.

You should also avoid packing any type of combustible or highly flammable items like aerosol cans and lighter fluid.

When packing items like a gas generator, lawnmower or weed whacker, make sure to drain the gasoline and oil completely until the tank is dry.

Taking these necessary steps is vital to the protection of yourself and your property. It is also important to your rental truck and the safety of other drivers on the road.

Settling In: A Look at Today鈥檚 Consumer Moving Trends/blog/rental/why-people-are-moving-2025/

In today鈥檚 ever-changing environment, Americans continue to seek new beginnings and connections 鈥 whether for loved ones, job opportunities, or a better quality of life. Findings from 糖心传媒鈥檚 latest annual survey, Settling In: A Consumer Moving Trend Survey, provides fresh insights into how and why people are moving.

Moving Motivations: Closer Connections and New Opportunities

According to the survey, nearly a third (28%) of U.S. adults have moved to a new city or town within the past five years. Among those who moved, the top reasons were:

  • Wanting to be closer to family and loved ones (28%)
  • Pursuing better job opportunities (27%)
  • Seeking a lower cost of living or taxes (23%)
  • Needing more space (23%)

The strong pull of relationships and affordability continues to influence moving decisions, with job prospects remaining a steady motivator compared to previous years. Our annual Top Moving Destinations list identifies the top cities consumers moved to in the past year based on one-way rental truck data. The list helps us not only see where consumers are moving to plan resources and tools, it also uncovers migration trends that show where people are moving for fresh starts.

Beating the Challenges of a Move

More than half of movers (53%) preferred renting a truck instead of handling the move completely on their own.

Of course, moving isn鈥檛 without its hurdles. The biggest challenges reported were:

  • Packing and unpacking (55%)
  • Adjusting to a new neighborhood or city (29%)
  • Finding a new place to live (31%)

Luckily, we know how to for a move! To ease moving stresses, movers leaned on smart strategies to better prepare:

  • Packing gradually over time (52%)
  • Staying positive (45%)
  • Seeking help from family and friends (41%)
  • Taking regular breaks (41%)

Interestingly, two-thirds of movers also reported that despite the stress, the experience overall had a beneficial effect on their mental and emotional health.

Graphic stating 82% of respondents view moving as a fresh start

Moving Mindsets: Fresh Starts and Positive Impacts

A powerful theme emerged in the survey: moving is seen as an opportunity for a fresh start offering a positive impact on well-being and growth.

  • 82% of respondents view their move as a new beginning.
  • 67% said moving positively impacted their overall well-being, fostering personal growth and new opportunities.
  • 56% described moving as an exciting time and a fresh slate for the future.

For many, relocating means exploring new areas, building community ties, and embracing change with optimism.

Final Thoughts: Moving as a Milestone

The Settling In survey highlights a broader trend: Americans continue to move not just for necessity, but for meaningful life improvements. Whether it鈥檚 for family, work, affordability, or a better sense of community, today鈥檚 movers are motivated by a mix of practical and personal reasons 鈥 and overwhelmingly view relocation as a positive, transformative experience.

As 糖心传媒 Truck Rental continues to support movers across the country, it鈥檚 clear that helping people 鈥渟ettle in鈥 to their next chapter is about more than just transportation 鈥 it鈥檚 about enabling new beginnings.

National Work Zone Awareness Week Highlights Safety, April 21-25/blog/logistics/national-work-zone-awareness-week-highlights-safety-april-21-25/

Maintaining the nation鈥檚 roadways requires periodic maintenance and even new construction.

New speed limits, traffic patterns and rights of way, as well as worker and vehicle movement, can all impact work zone safety.

, April 21-25, shines a spotlight on ways motorists and professional truck drivers can work together to keep work zone workers safe.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has joined with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) to coordinate and sponsor the awareness campaign.

This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥淩espect the zone so we all get home.鈥

Before taking the wheel, the FHWA encourages drivers to keep the following in mind when entering a work zone.

Sharing the Road

Work zones present challenges for truck drivers 鈥 narrowed lanes, sudden stops, traffic pattern shifts, and uneven road surfaces can lead to crashes and fatalities if they are not prepared and alert. Plan your route, reduce speed, stay alert, and do your part while traveling through work zones.

Large blind spots, long stopping distances, and size constraints make maneuvering large trucks and buses in work zones particularly challenging. Passenger vehicles should be mindful that CMV drivers need to take extra precautions when driving through these areas.

Pay close attention to road workers and flaggers 鈥 give them extra room, always slow when approaching them, and be prepared to stop if necessary.

How to Drive Safely Through Work Zones

There are plenty of resources available to research your routes and check for upcoming work zones. Make sure you know of any road work before embarking on your route and when possible, use detours to avoid having to pass through these areas.

Reduce speed while traveling through work zones, paying close attention to signs and signals.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month/blog/logistics/april-is-distracted-driving-awareness-month-2671625427/

Any situation that competes with a driver鈥檚 attention on the road can be a distraction to safe driving.

April has been designated as Distracted Driving Awareness Month to educate drivers about distractions and how to practice good distracted-driving safety habits.

We have assembled tips from Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to help keep motorists, movers and professional drivers safe when sharing the road.

AAA suggests drivers adjust things like seats, mirrors and climate controls before starting your journey.

糖心传媒 offers these tips:

  • Turn off all unnecessary devices.
  • Plan ahead.
  • Don't multitask
  • Keep your eyes on the road.
  • Drive defensively

By taking steps to minimize driving distractions, no matter how small, you can help ensure your safety and the safety of other drivers on the road.

Tips to Beat the Summer Heat/tips-to-beat-the-summer-heat/

High temperatures and humidity can be a challenging combination bringing with them the threat of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

For do-it-yourself movers and professional truck drivers alike, experts recommend taking a few precautions to help beat the summer heat.

We have assembled some tips to add to your summer travel pre-trip checklist.

One of the first steps is to recognize and prepare for extreme heat.

Extreme Heat

Periods of extreme heat 鈥 two or more days of high humidity and temperatures greater than 90 鈥 can occur anywhere, and these conditions pose an increased threat to the very young, elderly and those with physical challenges.

If a heat emergency is declared in your area, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommends taking :

Avoid strenuous activity

Wear light clothing

Drink plenty of fluids

Never leave people or pets in a closed vehicle

When outside, locate shady areas and wear a hat wide enough to protect your face.

Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illnesses

It is important to pay attention to any changes in your physical condition to identify early warning signs of heat-related illnesses.

Heat Cramps

Signs: Muscle pains or spasms in the stomach, arms or legs.

Actions: Go to a cooler location. Remove excess clothing. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if cramps last more than an hour.

Heat Exhaustion

Signs: Heavy sweating, paleness, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, and fainting.

Actions: Go to an air-conditioned place and lie down. Loosen or remove clothing. Take a cool bath. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if symptoms get worse or last more than an hour.

Heat Stroke

Signs: Extremely high body temperature (above 103 degrees) indicated by an oral thermometer; red, hot and dry skin with no sweat; rapid, strong pulse; dizziness; confusion; and unconsciousness.

Actions: Call 9-1-1 or get the person to a hospital immediately. Cool down with whatever methods are available until medical help arrives.

Level Up Your Hydration Routine

Hydration is important to help the body keep cool. We have to increase your water intake.

Eat your water. Certain fruits and vegetables are water-rich.

Bored with plain water? Add fruits like lemons and limes to flavor your water.

Miss the fizz of soda? Try sparkling water.

Schedule your water intake around the natural breaks in your day.

Bring Your Own Bottle for quick fill-ups at water fountains or truck stops instead of purchasing bottled water.

Freeze water bottles to use as a way to cool off during the intense heat of the day, and then drink it as the ice melts.

Planning a summer move? It鈥檚 not too late.
